CloudSwitch + Amazon's VPC = Full Encryption and Isolation in the EC2 Cloud

BuzzToday, Amazon announced a new version of their Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) offering. This move reflected the learning and requirements from enterprise customers who have tested or deployed VPC over the past year. Initially, VPC was developed to provide a secure tunnel (layer-3) from the customer’s data center to EC2, to make it easier to receive the approval of internal security groups for cloud deployments. Customers had noted that there were many aspects of VPC they felt could be enhanced, primarily around making the networking options more sophisticated and flexible. As Jeff Barr noted in his blog on the new release, a major focus was to enable public-IP access through a cloud-based firewall/load balancer to the cloud VMs. We’re glad to see this new set of capabilities, since we had definitely heard this requirement from customers as well, and responded to it last year.
